Jason turned right into a small narrow isle in the library, books towered over him on his left and right. He was glad that there was nobody else here looking for a book on dragons, there was simply no space for two people to pass each other. He sighed as he tilted his head up to the high ceiling to see yet more books engulfing his view. "This might take a little longer than expected..." Jason muttered to himself as he consulted the book list he had just pulled out of his jean pocket. The scruffy handwriting indicated he was best off using a book called 'Practical uses for Dragons throughout the ages'. As such, he began to scan the various shelves for alphabetical references either by author or by title.
As Jason made his way further down the isle of books he began to hum softly to himself, more specifically he was humming the tune to a muggle song, one her had become recently fond of recently. Pinball Wizard by The Who was admitably an old song but Jason enjoyed the numerous guitar rifts in the song, his muggle father had a similar interest in music from slightly older generations such as Genesis, ACDC and many more. Jason however was more a spur of the moment person; his preference in music wasn't dependant on a single band or a singer. He liked a variety of songs but their only common ground was that they had uncommon guitar solos and rifts in them, such things that Jason enjoyed listening to. He paused as he came to what he believed to be the section where he would find the book he was looking for. After a quick scan of the bookshelf and a flick of his wand, the book dropped into his hands with a soft thud before Jason turned around and headed back the way he came, towards his desk, spinning the book in his hands as he went.
The library was quite empty this time of day, many students were eating dinner in the great hall or in their common rooms relaxing with friends. Few students spent their evenings in the library. Jason chuckled to himself, people would label him as an absolute nerd for being here this late, he just called himself hard working. He dropped the book onto a desk littered with parchment, quills, ink and other books. His thesis on magical transportation from past to present sat untouched in the middle of the desk, crossings out and scribbled notes were all over his neat handwriting, something he had done last night in an attempt to better his homework, now made it look messy and un-presentable. He groaned in protest, as he knew he would have to rewrite it all when he was finished. He sat down and opened the book at the index and quickly found the section he was looking for. Merchants and traders using dragons as a means of transporting their goods across the country in the early 16th century. He chewed the end of his quill in concentration as he began to skim read the text.

Brooklyn had been going from class to class all day and when it came time for dinner she chomped down on some food mostly just scallop potatoes, chicken, salad and her once pumpkin juice which was now gin and because she hated pumpkin juice and she loved having a drink before she went to the library to study because if loosened her up. When she was done dinner she headed toward the library but was stopped by Professor Snape for only a quick minute so he could give her the extra work she asked for, but as soon as he was out of sight she continued to walk toward the library. When she entered the library she found the second she wanted and looked around to see if the librarian was in sight and once it was clear she climbed up the shelf and sat down and started at her homework. She Brooklyn often sat on the top of the shelf because it was very hard to be in the isle with someone else so she would normally just use her wand to grab a book but this time just as she went to hang over the shelve a tall, dark and handsome boy with a Ravenclaw uniform on walked into the isle talking to himself.
Brooklyn moved back over the shelf so he couldn’t see her but she could see him, he was humming a tune she recognized as “Pinball Wizard” From The Who but she still didn’t move she just stared at him. Brooklyn had kind of lost her taste for Muggle music when her brother Lucan was killed but as she heard this song it felt like a lion in her chest wanted to get out and start singing along with him but of course this was not the time nor place for that and so she moved so she couldn’t see him any longer. As she leaned against the wall she smiled thinking the boy was rather cute but she ignored that too and she went back to the potions work she was trying to figure out, she was really good at potions an even Snape was having a hard time giving her work but Brooklyn thanked her bridges that Hermione Granger was not in her class because she didn’t wanna show her up but she knew Hermione and she was actually in the same dorm room.
Brooklyn heard the boys stepped retreating to the end of the shelf so she grabbed her stuff and graceful jumped off the high shelf just as he reached the table. The library was usually quiet at this time in the evening because everyone was either in the great hall, outside enjoying what was left of the day or in the dorm rooms with their friends. Brooklyn waved her wand and said the book named she needed and moments later they were in her hand as she walked to the table across from the boy and dropped her stuff letting it hit various places and then she sat down and started working. It had only been 10 minutes when she heard the boy groan and she looked toward his work, she giggled very quietly to herself because she had never seen a man with hand writing of a women, her mom Nicole always taught her that her hand writing should be better than boys because women were neater, she knew it was messed up but because of that she had graceful handwriting that went smoothly together. “Are you okay?” She asked the boy when she was not sure what else to ask.

Jason’s concentration went undisturbed by the various loud noises spontaneously appearing at the desk opposite him, most likely a fellow student uncaringly dropping their positions at a desk before beginning their work, something he did himself a few moments ago. He had opened the book roughly halfway through and began skim reading the first few paragraphs, looking for specific references related to his essay. He began to tapping the top of the page in rhythm to the song still beating in his head, somewhere in the second verse, but all verses sounded roughly the same. He read over how dragons were outlawed as a means of transporting goods not long after people started using them but Jason still wanted to include it in his thesis, it would take up a few extra lines!
He looked up to find his quill but it was at this point he sae who had been causing all the racket. A young woman, possibly sixth or seventh year, had settled down in front of him with her own pile of books to get stuck into. Jason instantly noticed the Gryffindor uniform, at least it wasn't a Slytherin about to yell abuse at him! Jason had to admit the girl was rather attractive but he couldn't put a name to the pretty face. He admitted to himself that it was odd, he would have given the girl more attention if they had crossed paths in the past but he wasn't looking to make up for lost opportunities at the moment, he had to finish this essay by Thursday. He reached across the table to get his quill and ink bottle.
His action was interrupted by a quiet giggle originating from the girl, followed by her question, asking if he was ok. He looked up at her again, logically thinking that she was referring to his frustrated groans he let out moments ago. He smiled politely before replying; "I'm fine thanks." In a smooth tone. However he instantly realised he had rudely cut the conversation short. He swiftly placed his quill and ink pot to his left before indicating to his essay and continuing; "It’s just that I’m going to have to re-write my whole essay before i hand it in, I've scribbled too many notes all over it and crossed stuff out." He finished, looking back up at the girl, still slightly smiling.

Brooklyn dropped herself in a chair and started working on her potions homework again trying not to make too much noise because usually she would be humming a tone but when the boy that she had been checking out started humming again she started singing to it absent mindedly, “He stands like a statue, Becomes part of the machine, Feeling all the bumpers, Always playing clean, He plays by intuition, The digit counters fall, That deaf, dumb and blind kid, Sure plays a mean pinball.” When she realized she was singing she stopped and turned a few shades of red and laughed and mentally slapped herself. As she went back to studying she played with the gold cross around her neck, “This is going to be a long night.” She said out loud. Brooklyn looked up to see Jason looking at her when actually looked up when she thought she would not be caught checking him out but busted when she looked up her was looking at her and once again she turned different shades of red and looked back down at her books. Brooklyn tried to remember the last time she had time to check anyone out and she realized it had been a long while ago. Brooklyn looked up to see the handsome face still looking at her and she smiled gently and went back to her work. Brooklyn didn’t know too many people in the school because before her brothers died she usually hung out with Lucan but after they died she just kept to herself but now she is sitting in the library and scooping someone out, she thought it was rather odd. When she first asked the kid if he was okay she was sure was ignoring her so she flipped through the book she had and it was when she found her page that he answered her and she frowned when that was all he said and when she was about to look back down when he spoke again; she smiled at him when he gave a slight smile, “That really sucks.” Brooklyn said to him as she sat there at her table looking at her potions work and she knew he was having the same issues as her but she has a solution to hers. She grabbed some clean parchment and took her own out and started copying lines she wanted and fixing words she didn’t and then put it onto the new parchment. “When is your essay due?” She asked looking up and smiling at him.

Jason wasn't a very flirtatious person, in fact he hardy ever found himself flirting with his fellow students, and it wasn’t in his nature. That being said however, he wasn't against getting closer to a few select people it’s just that he didn’t have the time, or on many occasions, the confidence. Furthermore, the standard of teenage girls in this school wasn't exactly high, with many of them being see through blondes who flirt outrageously to manipulate others to get their own way. It was rare Jason came across someone he thought he could connect with. That being said, he'd only just met this girl, for all he knew she could be exactly the same, if not worse, than the majority of the school.
His ears perked up as he herd the lyrics to Pinball Wizard which came from an unlikely source. The Girl was singing closely in unison with his humming, which lead him to slowly stop humming and return to his work, as he noticed the girl had done the same. He saw her table filled with potion books and an essay, similarly filled with scribbled notes. He assumed she was in the same position as she grabbed a clean piece of parchment and began writing on it, constantly glancing back at her original essay. He smiled, glad to know he wasn't alone.
She then asked him what day his essay was due for. "Its in for Thursday." He began, dropping his quill, he was no longer in the mood the copy up three pieces of parchment he had already worked hard on. "So I’ve got plenty of time." He finished, realizing he still didn't know the girls name, although it was no surprise that he didn't as they were in different houses and most likely different classes. "I'm Jason by the way." He added, closing one of the library books he wasn't using.

Brooklyn had not realized how busy she had been with school and stuff till this year, she knew she worked so hard in school so she didn’t feel the sorrows of losing her brother which meant, she has not flirted or hit on someone in a long time but as she looked down at her papers she realized she didn’t have time. She also knew a lot of the guys in the school were the same as the muggle boys in the world, they all just wanted to say they had a pretty girl on their arm that put out, and well that is how she saw it. Brooklyn really wished she could find someone to show her not all men were not that same but she didn’t think that was going to happen, not with guys like Draco Malfoy around, “What a slime ball” she thought to herself. But as she looked at the guy cross at the other table she knew she just meant him and maybe he could be different... or the same.
When the guy stopped humming she stopped singing, she had not even realized she was singing and she went red so she just went back to her work without another word from her lips. Brooklyn sighed at all the scattered books and parchment she had lying around and suddenly felt frustrated, she hated being in side sometimes and kind wished she could be taking a nice night swim in the black lake but she knew a three page essay was not going to re-write it’s self and she was not going to put it off because it has taken her 6 years to get Snape to believe she was a talented Witch and could become a Healer. Brooklyn looked up to see a smile on the guys face and she knew after looking at his papers he was glad he was not the only person re-writing crap.
The smile didn’t leave Brooklyn’s face when he answered; it was actually nice to talk to someone while sitting in the stuffy library. “Same with mine, but I have learned with Snape to hand it in a deal or so early because then you can’t get bitched at for being a slacker.” Brooklyn laughed. She watched as he dropped his quill and then continued to speak, “Plenty of time is right.” And with that she copied the last line. When he said his name was Jason she smiled, “Brooklyn, nice to meet you Jason.” She smiled at him. She would have said her last name but usually the questions that followed after she said her last name was McNight sucked so she never bothered.

Jason was always open to meeting new people, regardless of their background. It was their actions in the first few minutes of contact that he had with them that determined whether or not he wanted to see them again. So far he couldn’t find anything to complain about, Brooklyn was good company and a pleasure to talk to. He sighed, looking down at his parchment that contained his finished essay, sure it was covered in crossings out and notations but the redraft could wait a night, he'd be back in the Ravenclaw Tower in a few hours so he could do it then. He wondered if Brooklyn was in a similar position, bored and doing work as something to pass the time, that’s all Jason seemed to be doing these days due to the lack of extra curricular activities to choose form.
He sighed again, realizing he had been doing that a lot, decided to cut it short and try not to act tired again. He closed the books that were on his desk, marking the pages that were of interest to him and his essay before slipping them into his olive green duffel bag by his feet under the table. He rolled up all pieces of parchment that were of use to him before stowing them as well, throwing in his ink and quills along with them. He then glanced back at Brooklyn who must be extremely confused by his actions, indication that he wanted to leave as soon as possible to get away from her, something that was further than the truth. "I can do my work later and i was wondering..." He began, placing his bag on the desk if only to prolong the time it took for him to blurt out the question; "Do you want to go do something before we got locked up in out common rooms for the night?" Jason knew it was a long shot, seeing as how she had work to do. But he wasn't in the mood for work right now, if she said no he'd go for a walk or head back to the common room early and catch up with friends.

Brooklyn knew her background was not the cleanest and she knew she had a horrible chapter of her life pass so she was not one to judge people by their pasts. Jason seemed like a cool guy though they had not said much to each other but then again if he didn’t wanna talk to her we could have ignored her. Brooklyn sighed frustrated at her homework and wished it would do its self and instead of her doing it. She looked at what she had accomplished since she had come into the library and she realized she had barely done anything other than cross things out, she sighed again and snapped the book she had in her hand closed and dropped it on the table, “Stupid homework.” She mumbled to herself and promised herself she would do it later when she could sit by and opened window.
Brooklyn heard Jason sigh again and she was sure he was feeling the same way she was, so without looking at Jason she word down last minute thoughts and started marking and closing books but she just staked them on top of each other and started staking parchment on top of each other too and then rolled them up together this way she didn’t have a million rolls of parchment in her bag. As she closed her ink bottle Jason spoke up as he sat his bag on the table, as she waited for him to finish she carefully placed things in her bag and closed it up. “I would love to do something before then.” She said as she put her Tracker side bag over her shoulder and stood up, “I am thirsty as hell don’t you think they will have drinks left in the great hall?” She asked him smiling.

Jason smile intensified slightly as he swung his bag over his shoulder, a soft clunk of objects rattling around inside filled the rooms silence as he stood up, pushing the chair back under the desk as he went. He checked his watch, a brown leather strap with a metal watch face sewn on top. They still had an hour before the Great Hall stopped serving food and drink before bed, just enough time for a quick chat and a pumpkin juice, although Jason was in the mood for something a bit stronger, he was sure a future trip to the three broomsticks would be best for that.
Jason took one last look around the library, double checking in his head that he had everything he would need to complete his essay later. When satisfied he had all the books required, and some extra, he turned back to Brooklyn who herself had packed up, ready to go, asking; "So? Shall we?" Indicating to the door, adding; "I personally hope they still have a few butterbeer’s left!" He chuckled lightly. He knew perfectly well that everything was summoned out of what was supposedly thin air at a moments notice, but a but of light heartedness did nothing but lift the mood of the current conversation.
