Lesley had walked out of her last lesson of the day, tired of it all. Lesley had decided she wanted to go to some place quiet and the library seemed like a good place to be at the moment. Lesley continued down the hall until she she had reached the library.
Inside, Lesley looked at shelf after shelf. she stopped when she had reached the Potions section and she started looking for books. She never wanted to tell anyone that Potions had indeed been her favorite subject. she found a book and sat down. she had heard some snickering and looked over. some slytherins, she had guessed, were laughing at her. That didnt bother Lesley one bit. she didnt care who she was or who her family was, she was perfectly fine.
Lesley had opened the book and started reading. she took out some parchment and a quill from her bag and she started taking notes, she never thought she would get. Lesley then sighed and closed the book. she reached into her bag and pulled out one of her favorites, The Princess Bride. she knew there was a movie and loved that too, but nothing can beat the book.

Hermione had been aimlessly wandering the library for over an hour before settling for reading a book in the potions section. Hermione had already been in the Herbology, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Transfiguration and Ancient Runes sections, so Potions seemed to be the next stop. Today was a day free from Ron and Harry, since they decided to go off to the Three Broomsticks to have some time to talk about girls. Whatever, Hermione didn't need them to have fun. She was having fun just reading.
Out of the corner of her eye she saw a few Slytherins in the corner pointing and laughing at her. She cursed at them under her breath, wishing she could hex them. She hated all those "high and mighty" Slytherins who thought they were better than her. If it came down to a duel, Hermione could leave them crying for their mothers. Her turned back to the bookshelf and picked a book about ancient potion making. That would calm her down.
Hermione sat down and started reading when she noticed the other girl at her table. It took Hermione a few seconds to realize that it was Lesley Parker, one of the girls that lived in Gryffindor with her. Hermione looked and saw that Leslie was reading a potions book too. "Hey, you like potions too?" Hermione asked casually. It was nice to see someone else interested in academics. Harry and Ron couldn't care less about classes, so Hermione was excited to talk with Leslie.

Lesley had looked over when she had heard a voice. It was her dorm room mate, Hermione Granger. she smiled at the brunette and nodded. "love it actually. I could never understand why though." Lesley just shrugged. Lesley had placed her book down, the pleasure book. She then asked Hermione "so how are you? I never really get to talk to you." Lesley chuckled a bit.
"so what makes you so interested in potions?" Lesley asked Hermione. Lesley herself didnt know. She had always thought it was the challenge of getting things right, or exact. Lesley had then looked over at the book she was reading before the Princess Bride. "This is a really good Potions book. I had finished it not that long ago and today i was just taking notes."

"I'm alright," Hermione stated smiling. "Nothing really interesting has happened so far." Which was actually a lie because she had been humiliated in Weasley's Wizard Wheezies before the start of term when Ron vehemently stated they Her and Ron were just friends. Hermione ran her fingers through her hair. She wasn't going to get angry about that now, she was making a new friend. Now was not the time. Ron was off with his "boyfriend" Harry, and now Hermione was making friends who were girls.
Hermione grinned. Hah!, she thought to herself. I'm making friends while Ron is off complaining to Harry, take that! She knew she shouldn't be thinking of Ron, but he was always on her mind. "I love all academics because it gives me a sense of accomplishment. The excitement you feel when you get the right answer, and the high you feel after you do well on an exam. I'm pretty much your standard issue nerd." Hermione shrugged. "I think I really like potions because you have to follow all the steps exactly. I like precision, so potions is a good fit for me." She loved talking about classes with other people. "This book is really good too, it's about the history of potion making. Have you read it?" Hermione ran her fingers along the pages of the book.
"I agree, we never do get to talk. I've been so busy running around with Harry and Ron that I never got to know most people in our house!" Hermione kept grinning, Leslie seemed really nice and Hermione hoped that the two could be friends. She needed to branch out, because if she told Ron how she felt and it ruined their friendship, she was going to need more friends to fall back on.

Lesley listened to Hermione. "I hear that." she replied as she leaned back in her chair. Lesley only had the excitement of her Aunts' letters, one complaining to her that the other is too wild and the other complaining about how bossy the other is. Lesley loved getting letters from her Aunts when they fight. it always gave her something to do, something to help them work through.
Lesley smiled to Hermione's statement. part of it was true. "Something tells me you should have been put in Ravenclaw, but then i wouldnt have a cool room mate." Lesley laughed. "see I like potions the same reasons why you do. You have to get everything exact, and if you dont you can screw it all up, and i think it is a challenge." Lesley smiled to Hermione. "cant say I have." Lesley answered.
"thats ok. I could say the same thing, the past 6 years but my friends graduated, so now i spend a lot of my time writing letters to my Aunts and reading." Lesley shrugged. She thought it would be nice to have Hermione as a friend. Lesley knew she could always get help from her and when she needed some one to talk to, she can count on Hermione.

Hermione shrugged. "I've heard that I was put in the wrong house by so many Ravenclaws it isn't even funny. They're so weird about a Gryffindor outsmarting them." Hermione laughed. "One of them tried to hex me once because I beat her on a test. I think it's kind of funny." Hermione loved being the smartest in her class. People knew who she was not because she was Harry Potter's friend, they knew who she was because she had been called "the brightest witch of her age." Last year she was in the Slug Club because of her intelligence, and she was proud to be acknowledged for her intelligence.
Hermione looked down at her book and smiled. She tended to read the most obscure books. Ron and Harry were totally convinced that she was the only student who has read Hogwarts: A History cover to cover. "It's a great book, you should read it next. It goes over some of the very first potions to ever work. I find it all extremely fascinating."
"It's a shame that we have never really hung out. We should get butterbeers at the Three Broomsticks sometime. It would be fun to get out and talk with a girl for once. It's funny that so many girls are in love with Harry because he knows nothings about girls." Hermione laughed to herself. Harry and Ron were clueless when it came to girls. Ron was especially cluesless, because he couldn't see how much Hermione loved him.

“aww, I think they can suck it up.” Lesley smiled to Hermione. Lesley started laughing about the hexing. “well, jealousy issues I presume.” Lesley knew Hermione was really smart. “you really are. I am not book smart, but I do have a photographic memory and I am a quick thinker.” Lesley paused. “helps in sticky situations.” She added with a smile.
“I think I will read it.” Lesley smiled to Hermione. “do you read any stories, and not just academic stuff?” Lesley asked her curiously. Maybe Hermione would be interested in reading the book she was reading for the millionth time. Lesley loved romance books and stories that she knew she would remember for the longest time.
“maybe next Hogsmeade trip.” Lesley smiled to her. She laughed at her comment about girls being in love with Harry. “isnt he with Ginny Weasley though?” Lesley asked her. She sighed. She had only met Harry Ron and the rest of the Weasley’s a few times, from well you know.” Lesley shrugged.

Hermione laughed. "The Ravenclaws are amazingly jealous. I'm just glad they're being put in their place." Lesley seemed a really easy person to talk with, and Hermione was glad that they were becoming friends. "You're so lucky. I'd kill to have a photographic memory. I have to study and take notes in order for things to sink in. I am lucky that once I memorize something I never forget it." Hermione grinned at Lesley. "It really comes in handy to be a quick thinker. Trust me, I've been in many a sticky situation." Suddenly, Hermione had flashbacks of the battle at the Ministry. Ginny, Luna, Neville, Ron, Harry and Hermione could have easily died that night. Thank God none of them did.
"Yeah, I read a bunch of Muggle novels because my parents are Muggles. They send me interesting books from home. I'm a sucker for romance novels, I think it's because my love life is nonexistent right now. What kinds of books do you read?" Most people thought Hermione only read academic books, but she enjoyed all types of books. Muggle mystery novels were among her favorites. She loved the suspense.
Hermione smiled at Lesley, "Next Hogsmeade trip we are so going to the Three Broomsticks. It'll be really fun." She was proud of herself for branching out and making new friends. Hermione sighed at the mention of Harry. That boy was clueless. "Yeah he's with Ginny. Which is actually really great because they've known each other forever so Ginny knows how clueless he is. It took him almost an entire year to ask her out." Harry and Ginny were absolutely adorable, but it bothered sometimes to see them together. It just reminded her that she would never be that way with Ron.

Lesley looked at Hermione and agreed. “I am glad you were able to do it.” Lesley laughed. “I am still high up there myself. Almost all “O”s. just one “E”. Lesley Smiled as Hermione talked about her having the photographic memory and fast thinking. “yeah so I’ve heard.”
“oh my god! I love this one.” Lesley handed Hermione The Princess Bride. “they made a movie but the book is amazing. I’ve only read it about a million times.” Lesley laughed. “I read the most amazing romance novel, I cant remember what it was called. But I do remember it was really good.” Lesley laughed at herself. “have you read the Nancy Drew series? That’s one of my favorites.”
“I would love to hang out with you guys. It will be about time that I made new friends.” Lesley laughed. Lesley laughed. “I wish I could find some one. I am just too I don’t know, not into it I guess.” Lesley shrugged. “but I did have the biggest crush on Fred Weasley.”
