Ginny had managed to escape her mother's very watchful eye, after using the excuse that she was going to go see Fred and George, with Ron so that Molly wouldn't insist on coming with her. As much as Ginny loved her mother, she loved her freedom as well. Tossing her long mane on red hair over her shoulder she wondered down diagon alley. She had no idea where Ron had disappeared to. Though he would turn up sooner or later, he was probably flirting with some girl trying to make Hermione jealous. She just wished that they would get together. Preferably sooner rather than later.
She glanced round her shoulder, urgh she was getting paranoid. It wasn't like a death eater was going to jump out at her - though saying that she wouldn't put it past them, which was why she kept hold of her wand in her pocket. She wasn't taking any chances, yes she was still technically underage but she hadn't let that stop her before. If she needed to defend herself - she would.
She went into her brothers shop with a smile, it was busy. Not as busy as usual but still busy. "George you need to re-think about who you let in this shop." She said as she caught sight of a couple of slytherins from her year.

Hermione rushed out of Flourish and Blotts in a hurry, angry with herself that she spent an hour in the bookstore when she was supposed to meet up with Harry, Ron and Ginny. Looking both ways down the street, Hermione grabbed her bags from Flourish and Blotts and ran down the street towards Fred and George's Joke Shop. She could probably find Ron or Ginny there. Ron, that was one subject she didn't want to have to deal with. She was madly in love with her best friend, and had no idea what to do. She couldn't tell him, because that would probably ruin their friendship. However, she couldn't bear with watching him flirt with other girls. It was a Catch 22, and Hermione felt hopelessly lost.
Suddenly Hermione felt her body hit something hard, and her bags spewed out from underneath her. She went tumbling onto the cobblestone, thrusting her hands in front of her protect her face. "Damn it!" she cursed under her breath, as an old woman helped her to her feet. Apparently in her haste she had crashed into the poor women. "Sorry," she mumbled feebly. Her bags had split open, her hands were cut up and her head was killing her. She repaired the bags with a simple spell and raced around trying to gather her new books. At last, all of her books were into their bags and Hermione set off towards the joke shop.
The Weasley brother's shop stood out among all the shops on the alley. She rushed into the doors, and spotted Ginny instantly. "Ginny, George!" she called out to her friends. She walked quickly over to the red headed pair and gave them hugs. It was nice to see her friends outside of school.

Harry had been hiding in one of the other sections of the store, he had no idea where Ron had gotten off to but when he heard Ginny's voice he smiled then proceeded to carefully sneak up on her as he placed his hands over her eyes he spoke softly closer to her ear. '' Guess who.'' He said wondering how long it would take her to guess or to turn around, tackle him to the ground after all he wanted to surprise her so he'd planned it all out figuring Ron would be flirting with some girl while Hermione was well he didn't know where she was either. It'd been a long summer for the golden trio even though they had decided not to return for their seventh year Harry thought it was best if he wanted to graduate, possible coach the quidditch team the following year that he was still debating on but his feelings for Ginny still remained.

Ron had not really wanted to go the Weasley's Wizard Wheezes there was really no point in him going because Fred and George never gave him a discount or anything and sometimes even expected him to pay more when he didn't even really have the money to buy any of the stuff in the first place however he was lucky enough to get a heap loud of the best pranks in the store on his birthday and Christmas now that was a plus. But, another reason he didn't really feel the need to go was because he had saw the store enough as is already. But, before he could even argue about going today Ginny had already told there mum he was taking her. He didn't see why she couldn't go by herself! She was a big girl.. ok, actually Ron won't want her by herself plus, she'd probable have Harry come and they'd be off making-out he shivered a bit at the thought of his sister and best friend making out.
When they arrived at the store he had heard that Harry and Hermione were showing up. He figured Harry would because of Ginny and all.. but, Hermione.. well... she was his best friend.. but, he was in love with the girl none the doubt he just couldn't pluck up the courage to tell her. So, when he got to the store and looked around he noticed that Harry and Hermione had yet to arrive so he went off to find some girl to just talk to he actually wasn't flirting.. that was till he saw Harry enter the shop going over to his sister and saw Hermione and to make himself noticed he started laughing rather loudly. " Wow, Angie your so funny.. come over here and meet my friends..." he said grabbing the girl by the hand and walking over to Harry, Ginny and Hermione.
" Hey guys..." he paused staring at Hermione for a rather long time then realized what he was doing and turned red snapping out of it before turning his attention back on Angie. " This is Angie.." he exclaimed to them with a grin on his face as he wrapped his arm around Angie's shoulder. But, as soon as Angie saw Harry she started to get all red and started talking really fast about how incredible Harry was. Which made Ron groan in frustration. Of course... she just had to be interested in Harry Potter like every other girl in the wizarding world. So, much for his plan working. But, he kept his arm around Angie anyways and would randomly agree with her on how great Harry was as if Angie was just trying to be polite and not crushing all over Harry. Angie, wasn't very smooth either Harry's girlfriend was like standing right there!

"Hermione!" Ginny smiled as her friend hugged her. "Got distracted in the book store again?" She was about to mention that Ron had wondered off somewhere when someone covered her eyes, making her jump slightly but she didn't need to guess who it was. Her own personal knight in shining armor. "Harry I swear to god one of these days I'm going to hex you for making me jump then you'll only have your self to blame." She said with a grin before she kissed him on the cheek.
She rolled her eyes at Ron's recent attempt at making Hermione Jealous.... she felt like banging Ron and Hermione's heads together just to make them see that they liked each other but was just too shy to actually tell each other. It was infuriating. Ginny raised her eyebrow slightly as Angie went on about how great Harry was, and Ron's attempts at trying to keep it all civil. Ginny had to bite her tongue to stop herself from using one of her witty comebacks or hex Angie. She intertwined her fingers in harry's as she held his hand. Her way of telling the girl to back off without been really obvious. She glanced over at hermione, Ginny was determined that they were going to hogwarts with her this year.

"Harry!" Hermione smiled as she greeted her best friend. She hadn't seen Harry since leaving Hogwarts at the end of last year, and it was great to see him again. His hand was already intertwined with Ginny's so instead of hugging him she just messed up his hair instead. Hermione heard Ron's voice floating over the shop and she whipped her head around to see him. The large grin on her face quickly vanished as soon as she saw the girl Ron seemed to be attached to. Her face heated up with jealously, and she felt a strong compulsion to hex the girl, but Hermione kept a straight face. "Ron," she said barely smiling. Hermione ached to grab him right there and kiss him, but that would surely ruin their friendship.
Hermione looked the Angie up and down, and watched her face turn red upon seeing Harry. Her heart filled with delight as soon as Angie started complimented Harry, so the girl wasn't Ron's new girlfriend. Although she felt bad for Ron, he never seemed to catch a break. Ron believed he was always second best to Harry, but not in Hermione's eyes. She loved Ron in a way that she didn't love Harry.
Hermione realized she was staring at Ron for a while and turned her attention to Ginny. "Yeah, you know me, addicted to books. I spent an hour in Flourish and Blotts today! It's getting ridiculous. I nearly ran down and old lady to get here to meet you guys!" Hermione set down her bags and showed Ginny her hands. They were starting to burn from the road rash, and carrying her bags was painful. "How has your summer been Ginny? It seems like ages since I've seen you, Harry or Ron!" It was nice to be back with her friends again, hopefully this year would be a god one.

'' Yeah but I gotta admit it's adorable to see you jump like a mexican jumping bean but I'll be more careful next time promise.'' Harry said as he smiled a little when he felt Ginny's fingers intertwine with his, the girl Ron was with get irritated rather quickly it was amazing what having a girlfriend could do, when Hermione spoke he smiled turning his attention toward her as her caressed Ginny's hand with his thumb. '' It's nice to see you again Hermione, no offense but could you and Ron just confess you like eachother already? this rubbish has been going on since 4th year.'' He said with a sigh he wished both Ron and Hermione would just admit they liked eachother, get it over with or he himself was gonna force their hands together or bump their heads together he was sick of their arguing.
Harry knew how much he liked Ginny because well he could never stop looking at her, the fact that they shared their 1st kiss upstairs in the room of requirement was sort6 of magical but it made him realize that he'd been waiting for her for far to long so now he was happy that he had waited even if he did have a short lived relationship with Cho Chang in his 4th year he'd always loved Ginny , it annoyed him when he saw Ron attempting to make Hermione jealous mainly because he became her shoulder to cry on. Ron was his best friend but he could be so blind, stupid that Harry always felt like slapping him upside the head just to make him realize how big of an idiot he was.

Ron scowled a bit as he watched Harry and Ginny being all cheesy with each other. He took a deep breath and shook his head a bit. He was going to have to deal with them being together no matter how much he may not like it. He just had to keep thinking it was Harry Potter he was probable the best guy out there for his sister a guy he actually trusted. It's just he didn't like the idea of anyone with his baby sister. But, she wasn't a baby anymore and if she had to be with someone he supposed Harry was a good choice better then Dean anyways. He just hoped nothing bad happened between Harry and Ginny because then it could ruin Harry and his friendship but, Ron not accepting Ginny and Harry's relationship could ruin there friendship anyways. " Well, I must say Ginny you have a better taste in guys then Hermione over here..." he said glancing at Hermione out of the corner of his eye before looking back at Angie who was glaring daggers at Ginny.
Ron sighed a bit a hurt expression in his face. It's not like he really liked Angie but honestly why did all the girls fall for Harry. He hated being just another Weasley and or Harry Potters best friend but thats all he ever was that was the one good thing about Lavender even though she was crazy she liked Ron for... Ron. He watched as Angie now took off all upset about Ginny and Harry. He sighed a bit dropping his arm at his side. " Well... shes nice..." Ron mumbled under his breath. he heard Harry mention something about Hermione and him admitting they like each other and his eyes went wide was he that obvious!? He quickly shook his head stuttering not even being able to look at Hermione. " I... I don't like Hermione... I like Angie.. even though she likes you... like Hermione surly likes you too...." he mumbled under his breath his stare shifting down to his feet. Hoping they'd all fall for his lame attempt at not liking Hermione and shifting it to having some crush on Angie.

Harry couldn't help himself he had to knock some sense into his best friend some how so he raised his free hand, smacked Ron upside the head speaking once again. '' Right come one Ron ever since she asked Krum to the yule ball You've been blind, that was five years ago admit you like her or I'll well I don't what I'll do but you honestly need to get a clue.'' He said sighing he hated being mean to Ron but everything he said had truth in it, if Ron couldn't see what was right in front of him all these years then he needed glasses like Harry himself. Hoping Ginny would back him up in all this Harry quickly shut up so he didn't get himself in trouble obviously he was a walking target for the stuff but so far all the Horcruxes had been destroyed so all they had to do was destroy Lord Voldermort once and for all.

Hermione glared at Ron. "What's wrong with my taste in guys?" Considering the fact that Hermione was in love with Ron, he couldn't really insult her taste in guys. He made her so angry sometimes, especially when he flirted with random girls and insulted her taste in guys. She realized that she was staring at Ron again and quickly looked at Harry. When Harry mentioned that both she and Ron liked each other, Hermione gasped quietly and stared at Harry. How could Harry betray her confidences? It was obvious that Ron didn't like her, or else he wouldn't be flirting with other girls. Ron quickly responded that he thought Hermione was nice, and Hermione ran her fingers through her hair. "See?" she felt like screaming at Harry. Why did Harry have to do this now? She wouldn't have told Ron how she felt, some day.
Hermione threw on a quick smile and looked straight at Ron. "Harry, we are just friends!" she lied through her teeth. "You're clearly imagining things." She couldn't bear to let Ron know how she felt, when he obviously didn't feel the same. Her insides were burning with shame, but she had to keep on a happy face, just to convince Ron she didn't like him. She couldn't deal with the humiliation of rejection. Soon, her emotions changed as Harry smacked Ron and exposed that Ron had liked her since the Yule Ball. Suddenly, things began falling into place.
Hermione slowly realized what Harry was trying to say, and turned to Ron. She couldn't help but look at him kindly, for she finally realized that he could possibly like her back. "Well, do you Ron?" she asked quietly. Maybe this was her opportunity to tell Ron her feelings after all. She smiled softly and prayed he would tell her the truth.

"Well could have been worse, you could have ran into one of the Lestrange's and really done some damage." Ginny said as Hermione showed her, her hands. "Summer has been fine, apart from mum watching us all like a Hawk. I only managed to escape today because I told her that Ron was going with me to see Fred and George." She tucked some of her hair behind her ear with her free hand. "Oh I have good taste in guys?... does that mean your going to stop interrupting me and Harry and stop pulling those faces at every touch?" She knew what Ron was like, yes he was been protective but it was just getting plain annoying.
Ginny rolled her eyes when Harry brought it up that Ron and Hermione liked each other, now was definitely not the time to make then both confess that they liked each other but saying that. They had been crushing on each other for too long. If they didn't do anything about it then Ron and Hermione wouldn't. "Oh come on Ron, your my brother I can read you like a book. I've heard you muttering in your sleep." She said with a smile. "And you do not like Angie, she's annoying and you only brought her here to make Hermione jealous."

Ron gasped when Harry hit him in the back of his head. " Bloody Hell Harry!" he said glaring at him gritting his teeth together. He could not believe he had just done that! " What gave you the right to do that?" he asked him his face beat red he was embarrassed for one and now his head hurt a tad bit but he wasn't going to show Harry it actually hurt him. " Oh wait! Don't answer that... it's because your Harry Potter right? and, you can get away with everything!" he told him a growl under his breath. Ron didn't know why he was so upset but he was. Ok, well he knew for one they kept bringing up Hermione and well, yes he did like her but he didn't want her rejecting him they already got in enough fights as it was and he's just end up making a fool out of himself and Harry needed to mind his own dang business this wasn't his problem. Then again Ron had always been a tad jealous of Harry's fame... Ron was just Harry's best friend and also just another Weasley. Then again... Ginny was the only girl and really tough for a girl she had a name to her... Fred and George were pranksters... Bill was married to a veela and utterly tough... Charlie was a dragon slayer and well Percy worked for the ministry they were all important but Ron was just Harry's best friend.. the underdog a nobody. He sighed a bit still glaring at Harry... if only looks could kill right now.
He heard Ginny ask if his attitude would change toward her and Harry and he shook his head. " Nope... I'm still going to be your protective brother even if you hate it... and I can't help the looks no matter how hard I try" he told her shrugging his shoulders a bit he couldn't really help if he gave them odd looks. " But, I guess I can try to live with it and not interrupt you two as much as long as it doesn't get really heated..." He explained shivering a bit at the thought.
He was half attempted to ignore the whole Hermione stuff but it had become a huge topic now he heard Hermione tell Harry they were just friends and he had been nodding his head in agreement the whole time that was. But, then the topic had changed a bit but was taken back to him liking her again as he sighed a bit in frustration. This time Hermione had asked him if he liked her. His face was even more red then before and he couldn't look at her as he shook his head stubbornly. " No, were just friends like you said..." he mumbled under his breath no emotion really in his voice he couldn't show emotion because if he had it would be to obvious and she'd see the hurt in his voice and he didn't want that.

Hermione's face burned with shame and hurt as Ron stated that they were just friends. She shouldn't have gotten her hopes up that Ron would like her back. That was ridiculous, they were just friends, and now it seemed like that's all they were going to be. Hermione looked away from Ron, so he wouldn't see the pain behind her eyes. It was too hard to look at any of them, so she stared at the ground as she fought back tears. She had been rejected without even telling him her feelings. Ron was the only boy she'd ever felt this strongly for. She thought she really liked Viktor Krum, but it was more a physical lust than a deep love. Now she wished that Ron had asked her to the Yule Ball first. Maybe things would be different.
It was hard for Hermione to watch Ron be angry with Harry. There was always this unspoken tension between Ron and Harry. Ron was constantly jealous of Harry for being famous, even though they all knew Harry would much rather be a normal kid like the rest of them. "Ron, don't be mad at Harry, even if he is insinuating things about us that clearly aren't true." Hermione didn't want another fight to happen like the one in their fourth year. It was hard enough then, and now wasn't the time for the two boys to be fighting. Right now they needed to stick together.
Hermione looked at Harry in a pleading way so he would stop talking about Hermione's feelings towards Ron. It was an uncomfortable subject, and Hermione couldn't take anymore rejection from Ron. She felt as if she was going to burst into tears, and that was one thing she didn't want to do in front of Ron.

Harry knew when he'd gone to far, he hated seeing Hermione upset but it was obvious Ron was never going to reveal his feelings for her which irritated him but it wasn't his place to play matchmaker considering it'd taken him awhile to actually admit to himself that he loved Ginny. Last year had been the 1st time he'd ever kissed her but he'd liked her ever since he laid eyes on her for the 1st time, none of that would ever change ever Ginny was his soul mate. But he wished his two best friends would just get over themselves, admit how they felt but that was just him obviously so he wasn't gonna push it any further because he hated to see Hermione upset, it was partially his fault that she was upset which made him feel really bad about sticking his nose where it didn't belong.
''Sorry I'll mind my own business from now on.'' He said as he ran his fingers threw his hair still caressing Ginny's hand rolling his eyes at Ron's comment it annoyed him to no end that Ron was so over protective of his little sister, because of that they very seldom had time to be alone because Ron was always around or lurking somewhere close by. ''One of these days.'' Harry thought to himself knowing that one day Ron would have to let his little sister go not to mention realize she was perfectly capable of taking care of herself now which is what harry liked about her she was independent like he was, that made them perfect for eachother.

Ron glared at Hermione when she had came to Harry's defense. Go figure... she always did it's not like she even denied liking Harry. So, she must of just like everyone else in this world besides Slytherins but Slytherins didn't like anyone but Purebloods so that didn't really matter. " Why do you always have to defend him! He hit me in the back of the head yet he gets away with it! and, then when I snap at him for it everyone freaks out at me..." he said still glaring at Hermione. His heart was already broken enough by her. She didn't need to keep breaking it. First with her turning him down at the Yule Ball to go with Krum the enemy! Then again that was partially his fault he kind of made her seem like a last resort however she really wasn't... not really. Then her going with Cormac to Slughorns party and snogging Krum... or at least he thought she had because Harry had told him she had. Although, the thing was... is that she didn't really know she was breaking his heart. She had claimed that they were just friends and then saying that what Harry was saying wasn't true... was pretty much killing him inside. Then again he denied it to but only because she said they were friends and they were.
" Yeah, thats a good idea Harry!" Ron said tearing his eyes of of Hermione and throwing a glare at Harry. He already knew of Ron's feelings for Hermione and he didn't need to go throw them in Ron's face right in front of Hermione to embarrass Ron and make him feel rejected. Ron turned and walked away from all three of them and some where else in the shop now clearly upset but he didn't want to be rejected anymore and he didn't want anyone to see the pain in his eyes for being rejected without really being rejected.

She should have seen this coming, Ginny swore if she ever got a truth potion then she would pour it down both Hermione and Ron's throats, since it was going to be the only bloody way to get them to admit it to each other already. Hermione had told Ginny about her feelings towards Ron and it didn't take a genius to work out that Ron loved Hermione - it was obvious. It had only become even more noticeable last year when Ron started dating Lavender. Urgh that was one girl that had got on Ginny's nerves and she had to admit that she was glad Ron wasn't dating her anymore. Ginny would rather have anyone else rather than her in the family. Hermione would be the perfect sister in-law.
"Ron!" She shouted after him when he stormed off, had he said she had temper tantrums. She groaned, this was all they needed. Well she better go sort Ron out because he would probably end up shouting at Harry again. And there was enough fighting going on in the world without them fighting with each other as well. "I'd better go talk some sense into Ron... Get him to come back." She kissed Harry softly "Make sure Hermione's ok." She said as she reluctantly let go of Harry's hand and went after Ron. It was times like this when she wished she could split herself in two to comfort them both. "Ron, you ok?" She asked once she finally caught up with him.

Hermione glared at Ron, one, because she was so angry with him for being a total prat and two, because he had rejected her feelings without even knowing them. She broke down when he started dating Lavender, and she didn't want to have a breakdown in the middle of a very crowded shop. As Ron stormed away Hermione shouted after him,"Jesus Ron, I'm not siding with Harry! I'm trying to avoid a monumental fight like the one we are having now!" She ran her fingers through her hair and started reciting Potions laws in her head to calm her down. This wasn't what she needed right before the start of the term.
She heard Ginny say she was going to bring Ron back, and Hermione nodded. Ginny knew how to calm down her brother better than Harry and Hermione did. She pulled out her wand and mumbled "Muffliato" so she could talk to Harry without Ron hearing. Hermione glanced at Harry and burst into tears. "God, why is he so immature? Is it necessary for him to just stomp on my feelings every minute?!" Hermione let it all out. She was sick and tired of feeling rejected because it wasn't a feeling she liked having. Hermione was used to being the best at everything, and feeling like a failure was not acceptable to her.
Hermione closed her eyes to stop the tears, and attempted to pull herself together. She wiped her face with the sleeve of her sweater and ran her fingers through her hair. Ron and Ginny would be coming back eventually and Hermione didn't want either of them to know she'd been crying. Hermione turned to Harry. "So, this has been a great afternoon. I'm glad we started the term off on the right foot," she joked. It was all she could do to keep her from crying again.

Ron had just barley heard Hermione shout after him that she hadn't been choosing sides. Of course she'd say that because she so totally was. If she didn't want a fight then she should of just kept her mouth shut. He turned to glare at her but she had already turned her back by now. He noticed that Ginny had come over and he sighed a bit in frustration. What did she want? Was she just going to come over here and scold him for not being the perfect older brother and getting after Harry. However when she asked him if he was ok he shrugged his shoulders a bit. That was probable what she was going to start with and ask him and then if he said he was fine she'd just start yelling at him. He didn't answer right away and instead picked up some box that said candy and examined it not really believing it was candy.
He continued to examine it as he attempted to open it now glancing at Ginny. " I'm fine... why won't I be?" he asked her then looked back down at the box but, when he finally got it open it took him off guard and something popped up in his face as Ron let out a scream and he fell back into some display knocking everything over as well as ending in him falling down on the ground. Ron's eyes went wide as one of the twins he couldn't tell which one at the moment started scolding him. Ron let out a soft oww rubbing his back as he glared at his brother. " You should of had a warning!" he exclaimed with a huff his face beat red by now from embarrassment.

"Ron stop being all defensive, I'm only trying to help." She said as she folded her arms. "I know how much you like Hermione, I've seen how you look at her and it doesn't take a genius to work it out." She watched him as he played with a box, now just picking up a random box in their brothers's shop wasn't a good idea, but saying that it might just knock some sense into him and if it did then Ginny wasn't going to complain. "Wasn't today meant to be a fun day?.... where we didn't have to worry about what you know who is up to?"
"Ron I wouldn't play with that....." She tried to say before it popped up in his face. "George... I mean Fred, that was not funny! You knew that was going to go up in in face!.... and don't say you didn't." She snapped in a good imitation of their mum. "Come on Ron." She said as she held out her hand, to help him up.

Harry raised his hand only to rub Hermione's back he felt horrible because if he hadn't of told them to admit they liked eachother none of this would have ever happened, if they had just admitted it four years ago things would be better now to but that wasn't the case. '' I'm sorry it's all my fault I should have minded my own business.'' He said as he rubbed Hermione's back she was back she was his best friend so he felt horrible for messing the day up it was supposed to be fun not hell. There were somethings Harry had a hard time with seeing his friends hurt, minding his own business but then again until he started dating Ginny he knew how Ron felt weather he was the boy who lived or not it didn't really matter all he knew was that he loved Ginny with all his heart.
But Hermione was like the little sister he never had, er well he felt it was his duty to be there for her when she needed a shoulder to cry on because she didn't have anyone to look out for her really even if she could handle herself. He still felt he had to protect her, be there for her like a brother would although they were the same age that didn't matter he still felt like because he was the more mature one alot of the time because well clearly Ron acted childish occasionally so Harry was the one with a mature mind.
