Mum was back. Finally, Coryn thought to herself. She had missed her mother so much, but dad wasn't back either, though he had sent a letter a while ago. Mum could tell her where they had been, but Cory didn't care. Just so long that she was back in the house, it made Cory a bit better inside. She sighed as she walked into the potion pantry, getting whatever it was her mum needed. She looked around, and not finding any of it she went back out. She heard a soft hoot from the room next door--the kitchen--and walked in. Gylfie was sitting on her perch (they were strewn about the house for the owl), an other letter tied to her leg. "Mum..." she called out, but there was no answer. Maybe she was in the bathroom or something. They were having a small party tonight for who knows what reason.
She took the letter and looked at the front of it, and it said nothing but 'Lestrange' in black ink. It seemed smuged, like it had been passed around all too quickly. It didn't look like her dad's handwriting. But Dad was basically the only one who used Gylfie, and she thought that Uncle Rodolphus had sent it, and Gylfie thinking it was to Rabastian's family, came here. She knew in a short while, the owl would fly back to her master--where ever he was. And she did so, with Cory not thinking that she could just use the Barn Owl to send it to the original recipient.
She didn't want to open it, afraid that it held some secret message, intended for her mother or her aunt, Bella. Seeming to know it was for the latter of the two possibilities, Coryn ran back upstairs, into the office. She stepped over to the fireplace, grabbing Floo Powder as she did so. She stepped in, coughing from the smell, and threw down the powder yelling, "Black Manor!"
In a minute or two she was there, sitting and coughing up ash and who knows what. Her pale face was covered with soot and dirt, as was her clothes. Knowing she couldn't use magic to clean herself off and make herself look presentable, she would have to stay like this. She didn't know what room she was in, but she did call out, "Aunt Bella..." though her voice did seem rather timid.

Bellatrix was in the Black manor on her own, Demeter was at her sister Narcissa's manor and Damian well her son was hardly home now-a-days. She pulled her wand out and blew up a statue that she had only just repaired. She smiled cruely - it had been blown up and repaired several times this holiday. Though she had to admit that with everyone out of the house and it was just her and the house elves - it was deadly quiet. She was used to the noise, especially when Demi and Damian was babies.
She went into their library looking though some potions books, she needed a new poison one that couldn't be detected when mixed with water - that was one drink that was very hard to mix with poison without it been detected. She had just pulled the book out when she heard a noise from the drawing room. "What the hell..." She slammed the book down with a loud thud. Bellatrix didn't like people just showing up in her home uninvited.
She walked into the drawing room, ready to lecture then curse whoever it was that were then when she saw it was her niece. "Coryn Lestrange, didn't you learn to warn someone before turning up into someone's home without an invitation?" She asked as she folded her arms, her cold dark eyes looking at her. She was lucky that she was family or she wouldn't be alive by now.

Coryn sighed as she waited. She didn't want to go anywhere else in the Manor, afraid of getting into trouble with anyone or anything. Cory was dreadfully clumsy, and she didn't want to break any of the precious objects around the house.
Cory's eyes widened at the sight of the wand. "S-sorry..." she said, forgetting momentarily on why she had come. "Guess Mum and Dad forgot to teach me that..." she added, with a small smile. But she looked down to the letter and looked back up at her aunt quickly. "It's--well, it's just that--" she cut herself off and held out the letter. "Our owl mistakenly brought me this letter. It's not my dad's handwriting... and so I thought it might be Uncle Rodolphus's..." she said, looking at the letter rather than her aunt's face.
She had totally forgot about sending word ahead of time. Demeter had told her that, but as usual Cory forgot. "Again... sorry, I didn't realize that..." she apologized one more time. She then remembered the party that would be going on tonight. "Aunt Bella... do you mind if I stay here for a few hours... or overnight?" she asked timidly. She desperately didn't want to go to that party. She couldn't stand them, and here would be better than her oh-so familiar room. Plus she remembered Demeter saying that Bella did get lonely while Rodolphus was gone.

Bellatrix raised her eyebrows, she would have thought that her brother-in-law would have warned Coryn about Bellatrix's foul temper, especially if someone just showed up in the 'noble house of Black' she tapped her foot impatiently as her niece was trying to say why she had come here in the first place.
She crossed the room in a few steps as she went over to Cory and took the letter from her when she mentioned that it might be from her husband, she was very anxious to hear from him, after all this was the longest that they had been away from each other and hadn't heard anything from the other. Even in their cells in Azkaban they would hear from each other, the dementors used to feed off their happy memories of Demi and Damian.
"Don't apologize so much." She snapped, it wasn't like a Lestrange to apologize - and they never admitted when they were wrong. She read though the letter quickly, a small smile crossed her lips. "It is from Rodolphus, he's safe and should be coming home soon." Well it had put her mind at rest hearing from her husband again, Demi and Damian would be thrilled that their father would be back, Demeter especially.
She looked up at her niece when she asked if she could stay for a few hours, well Bellatrix had of course been invited to her brother-in-law's party but she was in no mood to go so had made her excuses. "Well you can stay over night if you want. I could use the company and it would give Demeter someone else to talk to..... though be careful what you touch in this house." It was filled with many dark objects that had been collected by the Black family for generations.

Cory was just about to say sorry again, when her aunt told her not to. "My mum came home... so that must mean really soon..." she said, pleased to see Bella happy. Weeks before a letter came from her own father saying that they had found her uncle. Demeter was there, so she already knew that they would be coming home. She looked back at the fireplace, thinking if she needed anything. She had her wand, that was all that really mattered. She figured that she could borrow some of Demeter's clothes just for tomorrow, unless her cousin wasn't in a generous mood.
"It's just I really hate Mum's parties..." she explained. "I'm not in the mood for meeting with boys again..." Cory had never had a boyfriend, or even 'snogging partners' like Demi had. Her mum wanted to set her up with a pure-blood boy. Well it was expected of her, but Cory hated all those snobs that attended. "And I won't touch anything, I promise..." she added quickly.

It had been Bellatrix that had asked Rabastian to go and find Rodolphus for her, she that she would go find him herself but she would have needed them to keep an eye on Demeter and Damian - she couldn't ask Narcissa to look out for them after everything that she had already asked of her younger sister. Narcissa had brought them up since they were two years old, she didn't expect anything more of Narcissa. Cassandra and Rabastian said they would go if Bella kept an eye out for Coryn. She had kept her distance but had kept her word and kept an eye out for Coryn, even made Demeter go over to Coryn's home a few times to make sure that everything was alright.
"Well if your mum is home then Rodolphus and Rabastian should be home any day." She looked at her niece. "If you need anything, you can borrow from Demeter." Demeter wouldn't mind and even if she did mind then Bella would have a word with her. "Demi should be home soon anyway, she's just at Narcissa's"
"I've given up setting Demeter up." Demi could make up her own mind, she wouldn't touch a boy that was less than pureblood
